PHILANTHROPY

Prevent Child Abuse America

Prevent Child Abuse America is Sigma Delta Tau's National Philanthropy. It is a voluntary organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse through citizen action. Their mission is to "prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children" and includes all forms of abuse and neglect, whether physical, sexual, educational, or emotional or peer-peer abuse."

The Beta Phi chapter, as does every SDT chapter, conducts an annual service project, educational program, and fund raisers for the benefit of Prevent Child Abuse America. Together, Sigma Delta Tau chapters contribute more than $30,000 each year to their National Philanthropy.

Jewish Women International

Sigma Delta Tau supports the mission of Jewish Women International, to make certain that all girls and women have the fundamental right to live in a safe home, thrive in healthy relationships, and realize the full potential of their personal strength. JWI is a leading Jewish organization empowering women and girls of all backgrounds through economic literacy, community training, healthy relationships, and the proliferation of women's leadership.

In October (Domestic Violence Awareness Month) each year, Beta Phi among all other SDT chapters organize events to support Girls Achieve Grapeness. We raise funds to support JWI programming through sales of our exclusive Girls Achieve Graapeness OPI purple nail polish. We have raised over $80,000 annually for JWI through this engaging fundraiser.

Fundraising & Events

The Beta Phi chapter strives to be an active organization on campus and in our surrounding community. We love to fundraise for our national philanthropy with bake sales, educate our peers with informative programs, and team up with other sororities and fraternities to work towards the betterment of our school.

The sisters of Sigma Delta Tau within the Beta Phi chapter also participate in Wolfiethon, the annual event to raise money for the B+ Foundation. The B+ Foundation strives to raise money to financially aid families with children with cancer and help aid the fight against childhood cancer. The Beta Phi chapter received our very own Be Positive Hero Eliana! Eliana is an honourary sister who comes to events with us and we get the pleasure of hanging out with her whenever we can!

In spring 2015, ΣΔΤ became the first sorority to participate in Roth Regatta, an annual boat race held at Roth Pond. We also regularly support our Seawolves sports teams and compete in Greek Week every year.
